Beyonce admits to singing to pre-recorded track at Obama inauguration

Beyonce's performance at President Obama's inauguration last week caused rampant speculation that the singer was lip-synching the national anthem. During a Super Bowl news conference on Thursday, Beyonce admitted that she sang along to a pre-recorded track and blamed the decision to use the track on the weather and the lack of a proper sound check.

Beyonce's rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" raised eyebrows after her earpiece fell out of her ear and she continued singing during the performance in Washington. Today, during the news conference she had this to say about the performance:

"I am a perfectionist and one thing about me is that I practice until my feet bleed and I did not have time to rehearse with orchestra." The native Houstonian continued, ""It was a live television show and a very, very important emotional show for me and one of my proudest moments, and due to the weather, to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk...so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry, and I am very proud of my performance."

To prove herself, Beyonce asked the media to stand up as she took the crowd by surprise as she sang a beautiful a cappella version of "The Star Spangled Banner," which left the crowd applauding before casually asking, "Any questions?"

The singer also confirmed that she will be "absolutely singing live" during her performance at the Super Bowl this weekend.
