It was reported on Jan 22, 2013, that singer Beyoncé’s performance of the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration on Monday was lip-synced.
The truth that it was not a live performance was revealed by a spokeswoman for the United States Marine Band on Tuesday.
The spokeswoman, Master Sgt. Kristin duBois said that the song was recorded at a Marine Corps studio on Sunday night and Beyoncé pretended to sing the track.
By Tuesday afternoon, Capt. Gregory A. Wolf, a Marine Corps spokesman, backed off from this statement saying that the band had not played live but they do not know if Beyoncé had sung the anthem live or not.
Since the band members had little time to rehearse with the singer, they were advised against performing live.
In earlier statement, duBois had said that the Marine Band had no trouble but at the last minute, they received word that Beyoncé was using a recorded version of the national anthem. duBois had said that they don't know the reason, but that is what the instructions were.
