After spreading the word that he and Beyonce were undertaking a 22-day vegan diet challenge, Jay Z ended it in style by luxuriating with lobster and surrendering to seafood, reported E News on Jan. 2.
Their plant-based diet journey began when, on Dec. 2., Jay Z announced on his blog that he and Beyonce had decided to eliminate meat and animal products from their diets until Christmas. At the time, he said that he wasn't sure what would happen when the plant-based challenge ended.
Actions speak louder than blogs: A source told E News that the dieting duo dined at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Norcross, Ga..On the menu: Pappardelle, lobster risotto and seafood casserole.
They subsequently were viewed exiting Joey's Italian Café, which claims to have the best pizza in Miami. (However, we should note that vegan pizza does exist: Having tried it, we would describe it as similar to oregano-flavored cardboard with tomato sauce.)
When Jay Z began his vegan diet, he expressed his belief that it was both spiritual and serendipitous.
"There's something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas Day," he wrote.
"It just feels right!"
Trying to predict the future at that time, Jay Z mused, "I don't know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We'll see."
It appears that what he sees involves seafood. Pescatarian, anyone?
