The current animated Batman series will make its return from hiatus on May 10, 2014. It just won’t be in the time slot it used to air. Cartoon Network will be airing all 26 episodes of the series on their Adult Swim block, Saturday nights at 3:00am.
In 2013, two beloved shows on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation block came to a premature end. Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series both respectively finished their runs, passing the mantles to Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman. In a curious move however, Cartoon Network removed Beware the Batman from their scheduled programming in October and kept the remaining un-aired episodes on hiatus. The DC Nation block continued to run back to back episodes of Teen Titans Go!, which subsequently fit with the network’s current crop of wacky comedy shows such as Adventure Time and Regular Show.
Without explanation, Beware the Batman was cut out of the network's plans, thus dooming the series after only one season. Over the years, DC Animation has produced multiple high quality television shows which have spanned for multiple seasons. One has to wonder if Warner Brothers is gearing up for a new series to debut simultaneously with the premiere of the Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman in 2015. For Beware the Batman to be yanked from the Saturday morning lineup and into a grave slot before the series even had a chance to get off its feet is just too curious of a move by the network.
Whatever the reason may be, Batman will be allowed to solve his remaining mysteries when he operates best; in the middle of the night. Did you enjoy Beware the Batman? Will its new timeslot affect whether you watch the remaining episodes?
