Twitter is a wonderful way to network, stay in touch with your friends via Tweets, keep up on world events and draw readers to your site. But, there is a dark side to Twitter – Twitter porn. This occurs when seemingly innocuous people begin to “follow” your tweets. Naturally, you’ll want to reciprocate, but when you go to their page, you’ll find links to porn sites or crude tweets. Some of the more obvious ones will have a titillating photo, but many don’t even bother with a photo and use the standard brown and blue tweet default shot.
It’s a bit of a hassle, but you can block these followers on their page or on your follower’s page. This could present a potential problem for those struggling with a porn addiction. One way to prevent this issue is to close your Twitter profile to only those you know. Anyone wishing to follow your Twitter updates will have to get approved. Another solution is to closely monitor your followers and block potential offenders immediately.
If you have a Twitter account, I encourage you to file a complaint. Ask them to install a filter. It wouldn’t take much for them to put a stop to this.

Thanks for getting the word out.
I sent them an email complaint. Their response was disappointing. I had blocked that person, but I wanted Twitter to know someone was posting porn.
MD - way to go. Maybe if enough people complain, they'll do something about it.
Chris - Your welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
Come on, big deal. Get out of the Victorian era.
Just mention the word "naked" or "butt" in a tweet and the sickos come out of the woodwork. I learned that lesson hard and fast. Had to block a barrage of garbage.
Thanks Darcie, I'll keep that in mind.
Twitter turns a deaf ear to complaints about porn. I've reported some accounts several times that have nude photos for their avatar or background, including one showing a violent rape scene, and twitter does nothing. Causes me to wonder what the benefit to twitter is from this type of activity. A filter would be a simple solution, but they seem more concerned about spam that uses their bandwidth, and not porn, which offends their users.
