Beverly Hills celebrates centennial with 4,000-pound chocolate cake

Is bigger better, probably when it’s a 4,000-pound, 15,000-slice chocolate cake prepared by and Guittard Chocolate Company's corporate executive pastry Donald Wressel. Which is what the candy company and The Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel gave to Beverly Hills in celebration of the city's centennial milestone for its block party. Just think of the calories in that!

"We at the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel are so proud and honored to be members of the Beverly Hills community, so we thought, 'what better way of helping celebrate the 100th birthday milestone than presenting the City with this delicious cake in partnership with Guittard Chocolate Company,'" said hotel owner and founder of Luxe Hotels, Efrem Harkham. "It is exciting and humbling to see so many people join our party and we know it will create memories for decades to come."

"All of us at Guittard Chocolate Company, including executive pastry chef Donald Wressell who was instrumental in designing and creating this monumental cake, are thrilled to be part of this celebration," said Gary Guittard, president of Guittard Chocolate Company. "We thank the pastry chefs who traveled from across the US to help Donald complete this cake, the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel and the Beverly Hills community."
