There's a lot of talk in the gossip rags this morning about recent break-ups and recent weddings. And one new bride is speaking out-- not about her ceremony, because let's face it, it was a private moment between her and her newly extended family-- but about just why now, perhaps more than ever before, is the time in her life things are looking the brightest.
So let's choose to focus on what's to come for Krista Allen instead of milestones of her past, shall we?
Over the weekend, just before tying the knot with music producer Mams Taylor on 10-10-10, Allen was up in Vancouver on the set of The CW's sleeper hit, Life Unexpected. Allen will be appearing on the "little show that will" for an episode slated for early November 2010. She will be portraying Candy, a wealthy woman Emma (Emma Caulfield) and Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) try to woo onto their client list.
Of course, Candy hits it off with Baze more than Emma!
Allen recently took some time away from acting to begin working on a novel and to spend more time with her son, but she exclusively told LA TV Insider Examiner that she was "really so thrilled to get the call."
"I had just told Mams that it's time for me to get back into acting since my book is almost done and I was really missing being on set. I was really nervous that since I had been away for so long-- almost a year and a half-- that it would be really hard to get back into the game," Allen shared.
Allen met Life Unexpected casting director (and friend to LA TV Insider Examiner)-- shout out!-- Jeff Meshel at his Artisan Cheese Gallery in Studio City, who told her that he has been a fan for a long time.
"I got a call from Jeff," she continued, "I thought it was so sweet that he would call to see if the cheese I bought was good! But he said 'No, this isnt about cheese...would you like to guest on LUX? Ummmm, yes!!"
Allen, who LA TV Insider Examiner pointed out knew Polaha's wife Julianne Morris from their days on Days of our Lives together, had "the best time" working on the show. She teased that her character is really fun and that she and Caulfield get to go head-to-head a little bit.
Tension may be in the air on-screen but off it was anything but!
"I really loved working on the show and was so grateful to just be there. It's amazing what happened from just taking some time off. I appreciated the experience ten-fold," Allen added.
Allen is now looking to get back into the acting game with a new agent and management team, but she is not giving up on her book: "[It]'s always been a dream of mine to write a funny and inspiring book. It's chick lit: all about being a woman, making mistakes and finding yourself."
Well, we certainly know a little something about publishing and will definitely be keeping an eye out for it!
Allen's role on Life Unexpected isn't slated until November 9th 2010. Be sure to set your DVRs now and subscribe to this page because we will bring you more from her time on the set as it gets closer! We plan to Tweet along with the episode and hope many of you will, as well.
