Betty Who, New York’s favorite new pop princess is making a stop in New York on Friday, April 18th at Music Hall of Williamsburg. I was first introduced to Ms. Who last year around the time her infectious and passionate hit, “Somebody Loves You” became a viral sensation when Spencer used the song as the backdrop for his proposal to the love of his life, Dustin. The proposal video, and therefore single, blew up the interwebs, spiraling into huge success for Betty, née Jessica Newham, as she eventually signed with RCA records. Her shows have been selling out around the country and she’s finally coming back to New York to celebrate.
The Movement, Betty Who’s four-song EP includes fan favorite, “Somebody Loves You,” but keeps the energy up with “High Society” and “You’re in Love.” “Right Here,” is the EP’s ballad, introducing the listener to her soft side. Recently released, “Heartbreak Dream,” is Betty Who’s first single from her upcoming debut album, due out this year.
Possibly the best part of Betty Who’s persona is her live show, where any attendee is greeted with wide smiles, high energy and incomparable dance moves. Each show is a contagious party filled with non-stop dancing, infallible melodies and harmonies, and an incredibly talented and flawless band. The entire “movement” of Betty Who is the clear future of pop music, and isn’t going anywhere soon.
Betty Who at Music Hall of Williamsburg, April 18th is a must-see. Don’t sleep on this.
