Betty White will host SNL in May thanks to the Facebook page. Over a half million people joined the Facebook page called “Betty White to Host SNL (Please?)" and now, she will. NBC confirmed Thursday that Betty White will host Saturday Night Live (SNL) on May 8th.
Betty White appeared in the most popular Super Bowl commercial this year, and she was a hit in the Proposal with Sandra Bullock last year. And she has been on fire ever since. The ‘net buzz was created by White fans who became members of the Facebook page.
Betty White said that she has been asked three times to host SNL over her long career, but that she never felt it was right. "It's so New York, and I'm not New York at all. But my agent said he'd divorce me if I didn't do it, and I love my agent," White said.
SNL producer Lorne Michaels admitted that the half million members of the Facebook page "Betty White to Host SNL (Please?)," played a part in getting White to agree to host SNL. "It took on a groundswell," he told USA Today.
"I can't think of a better way to spend Mother's Day weekend than with Betty White," said Michaels.
People.com reported that a few former female cast members will also appear on May 8 including: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.
