Betty White will host 'Saturday Night Live' May 8

Betty White fans, rejoice -- your beloved TV star now has an official hosting date for "Saturday Night Live." WNBC News announced on Thursday morning that White would be hosting the May 8 edition of NBC's popular show, and that she also wouldn't be alone as a guest star.

As previously reported by Entertainment Weekly, Betty will be joined by a number of "SNL" alum for a "Women of Comedy" special. Among those slated to appear include Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer, and Rachel Dratch. Considering that we are dealing with Lorne Michaels here, it is very well possible that some additional performers could also pop in once the show goes on the air.

Getting Betty White to host "SNL" started up as a Facebook campaign following the comedienne's Snickers commercial during the Super Bowl. She also had a memorable speech during the Screen Actors Guild Awards in which she joked with Sandra Bullock and talked about her long career in show business.

Do you think Betty White will be golden on "Saturday Night Live?" Let me know your thoughts with a comment below and stay tuned for more TV news.
