Betty White turns 90 in January and her upcoming taped birthday celebration called Betty White's 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America's Golden Girl was held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles honoring her milestone. In honor of the legend, NBC threw an extravagant birthday celebration on Sunday night that included some of Hollywood’s biggest actors and actresses from years past. There was Tyler Moore, Carol Burnett. Vicki Lawrence and even Ed Asner walking the red carpet on an evening filled with celebration.
In what has to be a first, the red carpet portion of the event allowed the audience to see some of their favorite actors of yesteryears. Stopping to have a few photos taken, the modest older actors downplayed their contributions in television, noting everyone was celebrating Betty White’s birthday. Yet, anyone who watches television knows just how important their contribution is to the growth of Hollywood’s entertainment.
Rarely, if ever, does the public get to see such an amazing cast of older Hollywood actors. Once retired, most prefer to stay out of the spotlight of the business to enjoy their time off and work on their hobbies. As proven on Sunday, it would take a big reason for the entertainers to show up on a red carpet to be part of a program. Sharing the screen with Betty White years ago, her friends came to wish her a happy birthday and share a piece of cake to celebrate the moment. Plus it allowed the world to once again ponder the greatness of some of the best entertainers on television.
