If you thought that the people of Facebook were going to be solely satisfied with having Betty White host "Saturday Night Live," then think again. A handful of people on the social-networking site have now started a campaign to have the 88-year old comedian take on hosting duties for the 2011 Academy Awards.
So far, the campaign is still in the early stages and will take quite a bit to get running. There are over 6,750 people who "like" the idea as of this writing, but that could increase exponentially as soon as more people know about the page.
Betty received absolutely rave reviews for her performance on "SNL," with many thinking her performance was anywhere from "pretty funny" to "refreshing" to "even brilliant." The ratings (the highest for the show in 18 months) also proved that there is a major audience ready and willing to tune in to all things Betty.
Do you think this is a good idea? Put your answer in the poll below, let me know your thoughts with a comment, and stay tuned for more of the latest TV news.

While I loved Betty on SNL, it was hilarious I am not sure she is what is needed for the Oscars. But I will keep an open mind.
I love Betty White. I love that she hosted SNL, it was great. I best part of all this is that the people of face book spoke, and showed the power! Go Betty White!
Betty White is easily as funny and talented as anyone who has hosted the Oscars in the past few years, probably more so. As someone who used to love the Oscars and no longer watches it, I would tune in for Betty White.
I would definitely watch Betty White , if she is on Oscars night. She has a natural talent for being entertaining, regardless of her age.
