Betty White's fans on Facebook no longer have to wait with bated breath -- the beloved 88-year old "Golden Girls" actress will be making an appearance on "Saturday Night Live" later this season. People Magazine reached out to Betty during Elton John's annual Oscar-watching party, and she passed on the good news: "I don't know why or how, but it's been wonderful."

The only thing left to be determined is what sort of role White will play in the proceedings. Entertainment Weekly suggested that she might be part of a "Women of Comedy" special featuring other stars like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. The speculation right now is that producers are concerned with trying to force Betty into shouldering the load of a full show.

How thrilled are you by this news? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and I will tell you more on Betty White's "SNL" appearance as it becomes available.
