Year end always brings the inevitable Predictions from "Experts", especially regarding the stock market and other securities; it also brings a review of Predictions gone wrong, which is grist for a future column! It is said that timing the stock market is like playing Poker in the World Series of Poker, with the MIT geniuses, and other experienced players, especially in today's casino with neural networks, etc.
At some point in life one becomes aware that preventative Fiscal as well as Physical Health is one's responsibility; sensible, bona fide education, when compared to free media sound bites, can be extremely useful in preserving one's assets. As in " He who cuts his own wood is twice warmed", the study of Contrarian behavior (against the herd), and the difficult concept of tough self-discipline, can bring exponential rewards.
I credit much of the success I've had to a series of classes in Technical Analysis at Golden Gate University, especially the Wyckoff classes ( I was fortunate to attend the very first one, which led to II and III, and even a monthly separate support group with class members who went on to institutional management).
For readers who receive this today, an opportunity to "taste" one of these classes - a FREE webinar- is available TODAY at 3 p.m.:
