Bette Midler might have heard the grumbling from her fans on Wednesday when she announced her excitement for the Los Angeles plastic bag ban. According to CBS in Los Angeles, the ban on plastic bags has residents in the City of Los Angeles required to take bags are be forced to pay a dime to buy a paper bag to get their groceries to the car. Bette Miller weighed in on the new law that was enforced on January 1, 2014.
“Happy Plastic Free New Year 2014! Looking ahead w/excitement & optimism; together, we're moving the dial. LA ban on plastic bags: Jan.1st,” tweeted Bette Midler from her official Twitter account. Her enthusiasm, just in words, had fans rolling their eyes.
While many feel this new law is worthwhile, it’s a huge hassle. Not only do people need to bring bags, they have to cart around the containers everywhere they go or be forced to pay a fee. Some people are threatening to buy groceries outside the area and others are suggesting if they don’t have the free bags to use, they won’t be picking up their dog poop.
The ban on plastic bags is permanent. Los Angeles residents will learn to grow happy about it. Or at least Bette Midler hopes so.
