Bethenny Frankel to return to 'RHONY' as a guest star

According to a new report, the Skinnygirl mogul is in "formal talks" with Bravo to rejoin the cast, which includes Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan and LuAnn de Lesseps, as a guest star.

“Bravo has told Bethenny she could return as a special guest star, which wouldn’t require as much filming, which is appealing to her,” a source told Radar Online on Aug. 6.

Frankel initially left "The Real Housewives of New York City" ahead of season four to star in her own spinoff show with Jason Hoppy, titled "Bethenny Getting Married." The series followed Frankel as she and Hoppy made their journey down the aisle -- with her pregnant. Months later, Frankel gave birth to their daughter and their show was renamed "Bethenny Ever After."

"Bethenny Ever After" went off the air after three seasons.

According to the Radar Online source, producers of "The Real Housewives of New York City" are hoping to give ratings a boost with the help of Frankel's guest appearance. Since season four, ratings have continued to drop and if they don't do something soon, there's going to be no chance for the series' success.

Currently, Frankel is in a relationship with Michael "Mac" Cerussi. The pair appeared publicly for the first time around New Year's 2014 and have been laying low ever since. However, at the end of last month, they surfaced on a paddle board in New York.

No word yet on whether Cerussi would be appearing alongside Frankel if she returns to Bravo.
