UPDATE: PEOPLE's 9/23/13 issue featuring Bethenny Frankel is on newsstands until Friday, Sept. 20. The sales numbers given by the "source" from the original article were extremely preliminary. The early estimate at this time is closer to 750k. The issue is still on newsstands for another three and a half days, meaning the number could grow.
UPDATE: PEOPLE magazine has reached out and has revealed that the sales numbers are factually incorrect. Statement is pending.
Bethenny Frankel has returned to the spotlight after about a year in hiding. She has been hiding out in New York, Miami and Los Angeles after her divorce and has been rumored to be dating a much richer man. However, it sounds like her popularity may be suffering a bit because she went into hiding after her divorce. According to a new Naughty But Nice Rob report published on Sept. 16, Bethenny Frankel’s recent PEOPLE magazine cover supposedly isn't selling as much as expected.
Frankel may be thrilled to be back in the spotlight with her talk show, but it sounds like the return to the spotlight isn’t working for her. Apparently, her recent magazine cover pulled in low numbers, the second-lowest run in the magazine’s history.
“The Bethenny cover bombed for People. It is the second lowest sales EVER for the magazine. She sold only 610,000 copes,” one magazine insider tells the website. “Every magazine editor will see these numbers today and will know that she is death. No one is going to offer her another magazine cover for a long time.” Supposedly, the magazine averages about 950,000 copies each week. PEOPLE have not said anything about these numbers, but given Frankel's recent return to television with her talk show, the drop in sales does seem sketchy.
Do you think she needs to return to reality television to save her popularity?
