It is official, Bethenny Frankel filed for divorce in N.Y. earlier this week, officially ending her almost three year marriage to Jason Hoppy, TMZ reported on Saturday, Jan. 5, despite reports that Frankel was ‘devastated’ by the separation.
According to court records, Frankel began the divorce process by filing a summons for divorce, which is the first step in the divorce process.
The Skinny Girl mogul, best-selling author, talk show host and reality television star announced her separation from Jason Hoppy on Dec. 23, saying, “It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating. This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family.”
Bethenny will reportedly film her talk show in NYC in order to co-parent the couple’s almost three-year-old daughter Bryn with Jason.
Just a few days ago Us Weekly reported that the Frankel and Hoppy were still living together in their $5 million NYC apartment. Just a day later, Radar Online reported that Bethenny had taken the couple's daughter to Aspen for the New Year’s holiday so that Jason would have time to make arrangements to move out and pack.
Sources say Bethenny Frankel made sure a prenuptial agreement was in place before marrying Jason Hoppy. Reportedly the prenuptial protects Frankel’s Skinny Girl empire, as well as earnings from her best-selling books, her Skinny Girl shape wear line, as well as her reality television and talk show earnings.
