Bethenny Frankel is gearing up for a tough fight with soon to be ex-husband, Jason Hoppy. The reality television star and Skinnygirl mongul has hired Katie Holmes’ divorce attorney Allen Mayefsky, according to a Jan. 25 RadarOnline.com report.
Mayefsky is reportedly one of the toughest divorce attorneys in the country and has reportedly been described as nasty, ruthless and tough in the past. His reputation was solidified after he got Holmes’ divorce from heavy weight Tom Cruise settled in less than 30 days.
According to divorce papers obtained by In Touch, Frankel hired the law firm of Aronson Mayefsky & Sloan hoping for the same quick return on her investment. As things between the couple get uglier, it is no surprise that Frankel is preparing herself for battle.
As we previously reported, both Frankel and Hoppy are seeking several of the same things in their respective legal filings, which could mean that there is a long fight ahead if neither party gives in first. Hoppy filed his response to Frankel’s divorce petition and it appears the gloves are coming off. Hoppy’s requests mirror those of Frankel’s petition. They include, but are not limited to, primary custody of the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, child support payments and medical and dental expenses.
Frankel also seeks that Hoppy maintain a life insurance policy for the benefit of her and the couple’s child. Hoppy is asking for the same. Both couples are also seeking “exclusive use and occupancy of the marital residence.”
It is not lost on Frankel that Holmes won primary custody of daughter Suri when Mayefsky represented her in her divorce proceedings. Hoppy, however, is not giving in without a fight.
“Jason will absolutely not allow Bethenny to make him a part time dad on her terms,” a source close to the couple’s divorce proceedings told RadarOnline.com. “Jason will fight tooth and nail to have an active and meaningful presence in Bryn’s life.”
