Seeking inspiration to lose weight? On her September 11 talk show, Bethenny Frankel featured a woman who lost 75 pounds without a diet - and then decided to pay it forward by helping others.
Now fit and fabulous, Peg Bradford struggled with her weight after having surgery that induced menopause. Her turning point: Trying on clothes and not finding anything that really fit. But Peg didn't want to go on a formal diet. Instead, she created an exercise plan that involves a pedometer worn daily and weights. And after she succeeded in losing the 75 pounds, Peg didn't stop there.
Resolved to pay it forward and telling Bethenny how much she had inspired her, Peg formed a Facebook group called Steps To Good Health. The group, which offers positive support group for weight issues, now numbers more than 7,500 members.
Peg says that her group ranges from seniors to "tweens," and that what they share is the desire to get healthy by shedding excess pounds. And in a surprise appearance, one of the woman who she has inspired joined them and revealed how she lost 80 pounds. The woman cried as she recalled how she felt embarrassed to appear in public when she was overweight.
Author of "Naturally Thin: Unleash Your SkinnyGirl and Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting," Bethenny also included a fitness segment on her September 11 show: Naked yoga. And yes, it's just like it sounds (but the show did not air any naked yoga poses). Bethenny emphasized that it felt odd but it takes courageous to participate in this kind of fitness activity and lose your self-consciousness about your body.
