Bethnenny Frankel announced her split from Jason Hoppy just before Christmas, and her former “The Real Housewives of New York City” are offering words of sympathy, including former nemesis, Kelly Bensimon, E! News reported on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
Kelly Bensimon, who was married to famous photographer Giles Bensimon, and Frankel battled from the day Bensimon joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of New York City” in season two. The final blowout between Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Bensimon during season three of “RHONYC” on a girls trip to St. John's in the Caribbean happened when Bensimon verbally attacked Frankel calling her a “ho bag,” and seemingly had a meltdown, a chemical imbalance or was high on drugs or alcohol. All the cast members referred to the episode as “Scary Island.”
Fans of Bethenny Frankel were surprised to hear Kelly Bensimon express empathy for Frankel’s situation.
“I feel so bad for her. But she’s a strong woman. She’s an incredibly strong woman. Divorce is the worst time of your life, so I can’t imagine my marriage and pregnancy on television and then it not working out. I wish them both well. Jason is a very nice man, very solid.”
Alex McCord, who was also fired from “The Real Housewives of New York City” after season four, said that she and Bethenny are still in touch and that she is “sad for both Bethenny and Jason. I just hope they can resolve their divorce with as little acrimony and press as possible.”
Former BFF Jill Zarin, another victim of the “RHONYC” firings, has yet to weigh in publically on the Frankel and Hoppy split.
