Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift may all have Grammys, but Bethany Joy Galeotti has something those three don’t. Her 2008 EP entitled “Mission Bell” landed the second spot on iTunes Folk Charts!
The EP consists of seven songs. The first three are from her band Everly, which she co-headlines with friend Amber Sweeney. Those first three tracks encompass all of what an indie folk rock band should be. With soft melodies and excellent harmonizing radiating from this album, the desire to not sway along with this music is unheard of. The star of those three tracks is “Home Is Me-You Are Mine.” The song was written as a tribute to the American troops fighting overseas. It evokes a sense of longing that is portrayed so genuinely, that it enables the song to connect with any situation having to do with a yearning sense of love.
The next four tracks however, consist of songs that were performed by Galeotti on her hit television series “One Tree Hill.” On an episode called “We Three (My Echo, My Shadow and Me)” the cast is thrown through a time warp and land in the forties. Galeotti’s sultry crooning is a magnificent mixture of Billie Holiday and her own personal vocal style. The end result is a match made in heaven.
Galeotti’s newest achievement is the third volume of B Tracks from Everly. She once again teams up with Sweeney and the rest of the Everly crew to bring three tracks of fun. “Flying Machine” and “Girl in the Moon” are originals, but all Pat Benatar fans know the last track is not an original piece. The band brings an inspirational and powerful performance of “We Belong” to end the ride.
Bethany Joy Galeotti is a gifted actress and an extremely talented singer/songwriter. Many of her songs have been featured on her hit television series and if she keeps making more music like this, The CW is bound to feature her over and over again.
Bethany may not have a Grammy… yet. Her story is just beginning.
