BETC presents "The Clean House" by Sarah Ruhl

Now through April 17th, Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC) presents The Clean House, a play by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Rebecca Remaly.

A maid who hates cleaning dreams about creating the perfect joke. A doctor who treats cancer leaves his heart inside one of his patients. A woman who keeps her house in order realizes her life is a mess. This is a play of uncommon romance and uncommon comedy by "a playwright with a unique comic voice, perspective, and sense of theater" (Variety).

Sarah Ruhl was born in Wilmette, Illinois.  She studied under Paula Vogel at brown University and did graduate work at Pembroke College Oxford.  She gained widespread recognition for The Clean House, the romantic comedy about a physician who cannot convince her depressed Brazillian maid to clean her house.  It won the the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize (2004) and it was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2005.
