BET's Celebration of Gospel taping showcases some of gospel's biggest stars (Photos)

BET’s Celebration of Gospel 2013 taped in Los Angeles this Saturday, March 16 at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. The show is in its thirteenth year and comedian Steve Harvey returns as host.

Performers this year included Yolanda Adams, Tamela Mann, Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Sings, Shirley Caesar and Anthony Brown & Group TherAPy. There were some memorable collaborations including Karen Clark Sheard and her daughter, Kierra Sheard and Smokie Norful with an energetic performance with his youngest son. Donnie McClurkin and R&B great Anita Baker also wowed the audience with their duet.

This year the musical fest honored gospel legend James Cleveland for his many accomplishments and contributions to the gospel music genre. Those paying tribute to Cleveland included Rance Allen, Bobby Jones, Kurt Carr and more.

On March 15, BET hosted its third Annual Faith-Based Prayer Breakfast the day before taping. Dorinda Clark Cole, Deon Kipping, comedian Nikita B., DeVon Franklin participated in the breakfast is hosted by Fonzworth Bentley.

The Celebration of Gospel will air April 7 on BET at 8 p.m. EST.
