BET Experience Youth Program Opportunity Provides Fun Educational Experience

AEG and BET NETWORKS education initiative, Next Level, in partnership with The GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE, will provide high school students, ages 16-18, with a free three-day educational and empowerment program during the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE from June 27-29, 2014. Students who are interested in careers pertaining to the entertainment industry will get the opportunity to learn about jobs in music including event production, music journalism, as well as the history and impact of African American culture in music.

“AEG is committed to increasing educational opportunities for young people, especially in the area of music education. We are pleased to provide a hands-on opportunity for students to learn about pathways to a career in the music and entertainment industries,” said Martha Saucedo, Executive Vice President, External Affairs for AEG.

The program begins on Friday, June 27 filled with a full day of educational activities located at The GRAMMY Museum including a guided tour of the BET exhibit curated just for the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE as well as the first of several scheduled lectures throughout the weekend.

Students will also have the chance to attend the BET Fan Fest, Genius Talk seminars, a Music Matters Showcase concert, a live taping of “106 & PARK,” and private rehersals for the “BET Awards” show. Lastly, students will have the opportunity to participate in a Fan Fest Educational Scavenger Hunt and attend the “BET Awards” telecast, broadcast live from Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE.

“The BET Youth Experience was one of the most rewarding elements of the inaugural BET Experience at L.A. LIVE and we are thrilled to have this educational component back again for year two,” said Debra L. Lee, Chairman and CEO of BET Networks.

The BET Experience Youth Program is free to apply for high school students who are ages 16-18 years old. A total amount of 40 students will be selected to participate in this program and the application deadline is Friday, May 16, 2014.
