Firefighters were called out early Friday morning around 5:30 to the Best Western on Battleship Parkway. As fire trucks were arriving at 2701 Battleship Parkway the fire crews could see some people vacating the rooms they were in.
When fire crews seen the fire that was on the second floor they quickly pulled hoses off the truck and proceeded to the second floor of the two story structure. While some crews were busy putting out the fire there were other crews that was checking rooms to ensure all quests had evacuated the hotel just in case the fire got out of hand.
Firefighters had their work cut out for them as they battled the fire and smoke that was boiling out of two storage rooms in a breezeway. The two rooms that caught fire are rooms that maintenance employees kept supplies and equipment.
Firefighters did a great job in getting the fire under control and keeping the fire from spreading to nearby rooms and possibly destroying several rooms.
When fire investigators arrived they searched through the rubble and found evidence of arson.
