Christmas in June? Hardly. But here’s a list of the top new toys recently recognized for 2013. Don’t get caught off guard or out in the cold, shopping for “IT” gifts for your grandkids. The TOTY is pretty much the Oscars of the toy industry and thousands of visitors from 92 countries descended upon New York City to preview 150,000 innovative toys to honor the year’s top toys in the TOTY Awards Ceremony. This year’s event marked its 110th American International Toy Fair.

The overall “Toy of the Year” award was presented to Lego Friends (The Lego Group), who also won the “Activity Toy of the Year”, and the “Girl Toy of the Year“. The “Peoples’ Choice” award was present to LeapPad2 (LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc.).
