Best Toronto FC action photos: home opener versus Portland

TorontoFC opened their home season at sunny but cold BMO Field Saturday March 26 with a 2 - 0 victory over newcomers Portland Timbers. The scoreline might sound convincing but the performance still leaves room for improvement.

This article comes with a slideshow collection of action photos to get you warmed up for this Saturday's match at home to Chivas USA. Besure to check out the slideshow button. The weatherman promises it will not be quite so cold as last week's below freezing temperatures for the 2 PM start.

Chivas are off to a difficult start as they, like Toronto, continue to rebuild. They could well be the Reds softest opponent so far this fresh new season. That is a fortunate situation as coach Aron Winter needs all the time he can get to bring his squad around to playing the possession soccer he is after.

Look for new Alen Stevanovic feeling more at home with a week of training with his new mates under his belt. It was a bit unfair even putting him out for the second half last week. Stevanovic had only arrived from Italy about 22 hours before game time and had little chance to introduce himself in the dressing room.

Nana Attakora should be back from a minor injury that kept him from re-uniting with Adrian Cann in central defense. That pairing was one of the more reliable elements of last years dismal team.

Julian de Guzman is still several weeks away from a return from off season surgery. Like Julian, the midfield will continue to limp along until the DP is fit to go.
