Superbowl Sunday 2014 on the homestead is pretty much the same as it is in most other American households: football, beer, and food. The only thing that might differ slightly are the recipes used to create the feast, try some new recipes this year that put a twist on tradition!
This recipe for burgers is for four quarter pounders; if you want sliders simply make them smaller, or for greater quantities simply double the recipe - or more!
1lb pasture raised ground pork - if you don't raise your own, you can find a local supplier of meat here
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 apple, shredded
1 handful of fresh cranberries, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Take all the ingredients and mash together well in a large bowl. Either split into four for quarter pounders, or make smaller balls for sliders. Compact the burgers well to ensure they don't fall apart, then flatten and place in a hot skillet. Flip frequently to prevent them sticking and to cook evenly. It is recommended that ground pork be cooked to at least 160F, to be checked with a digital meat thermometer.
