Ah, vintage. One-of-a-kind, re-purposed treasures, memorabilia, days gone by, stuff your mother and grandmother had (or even worse, that you once had!)
Timeless Treasures
Here's the perfect name to describe the contents of this charming shop, Timeless Treasures, at 2176 Sutter Street near Fillmore in San Francisco. If you are into whimsical furnishings, jewelry, home accessories, 50s kitsch, it cannot be topped. The more you look, the more you see to enjoy a trip back in time.
Word art collection
Owner Joan O'Connor has a passion for collecting vintage letters from old signs, movie marquees, wherever they are found. They come in an eclectic mix of fonts, sizes, colors, and materials and are so much fun for imagining uses. Create a "welcome" at your front door, spell out the baby's new name in the nursery, inject humor in a garage workshop or home office, or add some flair to a garden wall. What do you want to spell out? Out-of-towners can even email their ideas to the shop to see what can be put together from the extensive old letter collection.
Juxtaposition
Shelves are lined with pretty turquoise vintage glassware beside hand painted trays and ceramics from Paris. There's another vintage collection to rummage through, of rubber stamps, no less. Gorgeous old mirrors of various periods, provenance, shapes and sizes reflect the shop's treasures from mom's teacups and saucers to dad's wooden folding rulers.
Elegance reclaimed
Among the treasures are two pretty little rewired glass lamps atop a repainted chest with glass knobs positioned beneath a glass chandelier. See a restored to working condition manual typewriter and case from the 30s. Covet solid and well-designed toys, such as fire engines and globes, as once found under the Christmas trees of early baby boomers (before toys went plastic).
