Braving the dauntingly cold winter weather were designers, models, editors, celebrities, gawkers and just plain fashion lovers who soaked in all of the venues, happenings and of course designer collections.

What best sums up the Fall 2014 Collections unleashed in New York? fur, fur and more fur!

It could be the sudden rush of freezing weather brought on by the polar vortex generating an increased devotion to fur (fur does give off a warm and fuzzy feeling) or perhaps designers want to express a consensus of luxury as the behemoth for the Fall.

Either way, fur was among the leading trends, as were leather (3.1 Phillip Lim, Vivienne Tam, ZAC Zac Posen)

Looser fits with an androgynous feel (nearly all of the shows). Laced up shoes (Akras, Anna Sui, Badgley Mischka, Boy Band of Outsiders, Calvin Klein Collection, Clover Canyon, Delpozo)

Longer Lines a la pants and skirts (Adam Selman, Adam Lippes, Anna Sui, Christian Soriano) The use of Male models (Anna Sui, Assembly, Custo Barcelona, DKNY, Michael Kors)

Color blocking (3.1 Phillip Lim, Altuzarra, Narciso Rodriguez, BCBGMax Azria, Calivin Klein Collection, Custo Barcelona, Edun)

Designers who deserved a fair shot at a would be 2014 NYFW Hall of Fame include; Ralph Lauren who really put the fashion in fashion week with his cleverly thought out stream lined silhouettes and cushy use of color-- all posing a graceful yet upfront effectiveness.

Vivienne Tam whose show exhibited the standards of Fall, radiating with an Eastern edge and a crafty mix up of color and fabrics. And Custo Barcelona who picked up where Tom Ford left off last fall , only fairing a notch higher. Custo took the Fall look and made it into a spectacle, the good kind. The kind where you can't pry your eyes away, very few shows were able to do that.

Even with all of the lingering confusion of where designers were showing, the brutally cold temperatures, and the less than rousing build up leading up to NYFW, the show went down without a hitch. Here are some of the best looks from NYFW Fall 2014 (View Slideshow)
