Best Sacramento Communities of 2013

See also

Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange- The Brazilian Center has some of the most unique events in the area, consistently. The community element is very strong. Each year there is Carnavale in February and various cultural activities and events to bring the Brazilian community and the Brazil curious Sacramentans together.

Occupy Sacramento- While many occupy movements have fizzled, this is not the case in Sacramento. Sacramento is still determined to work towards economic sustainability. This group is at the forefront of that movement. There are plenty of upcoming events you can get involved in as well. Check their site and get involved in 2014.

Sacramento Congress of African Peoples- this group encourages the African community of the Sacramento area to get together for different events. They celebrated Kwanzaa, as well as the death of Nelson Mandela this year. They also keep the community informed on news surrounding the African community worldwide.

Yoga Seed Collective- this is another of the amazing gems in Sacramento. It's a yoga studio that is easily accessible to all types of yogis and the yoga curious. It's a non-profit with largely donation-based classes. Naturally and also because they want to, they attract and encourage a sense of community.

Art Beast- is a children's studio in the heart of Sacramento. This is one of my favorite places in all of Sacramento and a part of that is because they help to redefine parenting and family as a community. They attempt to be a community space and you can go to their website to find their location, and then go to their location and see all the awesome things happening there. And after you click on the link look at what they say about building a community of parents and children.

Ananda Sacramento- this is an intentional community based around the Ananda Sangha Temple in Rancho Cordova. For this reason there are many events that take place throughout the weeks. This community has been around for a very long time and there are others across the country. If you click on the link and visit the sidebar and other pages, you'll find a wealth of knowledge that will serve as inspiration for the sustainability of alternative communities in these times where community is something people are often looking for, rather than experiencing. If you've thought about building an intentional community, Ananda Sacramento is a great place to look for encouragement.
