Best rainy day restaurants in Hampton Roads

The weather's been somewhat wet lately, and most people want to stay inside on such days.   But if you're getting sick of your dreary (spring-cleaned) house, here are some of the best places to dine out and get dry in Hampton Roads.

1.  Blue Talon Bistro (Williamsburg):  Their motto is, after all, "serious comfort food".  Blue Talon lives up to its name in this case, and not only offers some of the best coffee in the area, but comforting, warming dishes like mac and cheese and French onion soup.  Also try the coq au vin.

2.Freemason Abbey (Norfolk):  How could you not feel warm and dry in a converted church?  On a rainy day, try the she-crab soup or with some roasted prime rib.  Also try the Abbey Cordon Bleu.

3.  The Grey Goose ( Hampton):  If you're looking for a fresh, quaint breakfast or a hearty lunch to start your day, try the Grey Goose.  Try their crab and shrimp melt with a cup of Brunswick stew.

4.  Bodega on Granby (Norfolk):  Although this is primarily a Spanish-influenced restaurant, did you know that they offer dishes like chicken pot pie and pork loin with sherried raisin sauce?

5.  Jamestown Pie Company (Williamsburg):  if you don't feel like leaving the house for too long on a rainy day, stop by Jamestown Pie Company and pick up one of their delicious pot pies.  Then you can go home, sit warm and dry in your house, and pot it in the oven.
