Nowadays Starbucks runs the show when it comes to our morning cup of coffee. Granted, their coffee and myriad beverages are good but when it comes to my caffe latte, I prefer to support local businesses. That's one of the reasons why I love Towson Coffee House so much.
Located on the first floor of the Towson Town Mall, Towson Coffee House has a small, unassuming storefront. It was heaven on earth in my retail days because they opened around 8 or 9 in the AM, which meant I could grab my hazelnut latte while dropping off the deposit at the bank. They offer a wide variety of hot and cold coffe drinks, teas, and hot chocolate. Their array of lattes and mochas alone is dizzying, with interesting flavor combos like Peruvian mocha (chocolate, cinnamon and hazelnut), almond and coconut mocha that tastes just like an Almond Joy bar, white chocolate raspberry latte and more. If you're stopping by later in the day or just crave something cold, they have sodas, juices, iced tea and lemonade up for grabs.
Also a heaven-sent gift for the retail morning worker are the coffee house's variety of yummy eatables. They have bagels and pastries of course, but they also serve fantastic breakfast sandwiches. The eggs, sausage, cheese and bacon are all cooked right in front of you. This means a few minutes of wait time but it's worth it. That first bite is pure AM bliss. My favorite is the sausage, egg and cheese combo on an everything bagel. At lunch time they also offer fresh salads and wraps. Everything is reasonably priced and prepared with a smile.
Next time you need a caffeine boost or crave a brunch-time munchie, visit the gals at the Towson Coffee House. The service and the beverages are bound to give you a lift.
