Car enthusiasts, collectors, and those who share America's love of the automobile had a perfect day for the 3rd Annual Romancing the Chrome car how. This is one of the first, and largest Spring car shows, in Northeastern Maryland, featuring nearly 250 cars and trucks. Over 2000 people walked Jarretts's Field in Jarrettsville, Maryland enjoying the polish and chrome on April 12, 2014.
Romancing the Chrome is sponsored by the Harford County Public Library Foundation and the Jarrettsville Lions Club. This year's event, held at Jarrett's Field in Jarrettsville, Maryland featured something for everyone to appreciate. From the triple Delorean gull wing classics to custom cars, military vehicles, antiques, hot rods and rat rods.
Each car and truck at the show has an interesting story, which adds to the enjoyment of car shows. Some stories detail the restoration process or the family history of a car. One such story was the rarity of a 1962 Chevrolet Corvair Ramp-side truck on display. This unique truck has a standard bed and tailgate but also includes a hinged gate on the passenger side of the truck that could be lowered to form a ramp to the cargo area. Less than 400 were produced in 1962.
There were fourteen categories for those interested in having their autos judged while other cars were for display only. Winners in each category were judged as best in their class with one, Dave Warner, being recognized as "Best in Show" with his custom 1948 Studebaker Truck/Roadster. Other winners were:
