Best of Soccer 2010: Tacoma Tide FC's 9-match unbeaten streak

In my second 2010 recap article I look back at Tacoma Tide FC. Tacoma ended up third in the tough NW division, with 30 points on 9 wins and 3 draws.

Once Tacoma Tide FC got started in 2010, they were very hard to stop.

The Tacoma PDL side didn't score in losing its first two matches, then went on a 9-match unbeaten string to make waves in the Northwest division race.

It all started on May 28 at Curtis High School in University Place when the Tide topped the Yakima Reds 4:1. Spencer Schomaker scored twice and Chris Sanders added the final score for TFC.

It was off to the races for the Tide, including seven wins and two draws over the stretch. The final win in the 9 was a 7:1 drubbing of the Reds, this time down in Yakima.

Meanwhile off the pitch the Tide were gaining a following of chanting, tifo-making supporters.

While the Tide have been quiet this off-season after publicly stating that they needed new funding sources to continue in 2011, I have received word that the City of Destiny's club will be back in the PDL in 2011. Further details are not yet available.
