Tacos. Queso. Chips. Guacamole. Ice-cold margaritas. Mexican restaurants can be fun and casual spots to enjoy good food and good times. Here are the closest Mexican restaurants to MARTA stations for an easy way to get your fix and celebrate Cinco de Mayo!
Peachtree Center Station
Alma Cocina has consistently ranked as one of the top Mexican restaurants in the city. Located on the main level of an office building on Peachtree Street, there's an atrium bar and a restaurant area. Take the Ellis Street exit off the train platform and follow the signs to Peachtree Street East after exiting the fare gates. At street level, turn right and walk slightly less than a block.
King Memorial Station
Located in the Pencil Factory Lofts, Caramba Cafe is a short walk from the King Memorial MARTA station. The family-owned business has a large menu of margaritas to choose from and traditional dishes. Turn left on Dekalb Avenue/Decatur Street and the restaurant is a few doors down on the left.
For killer happy hour deals, head to Senor Patron. Their house margaritas are only $3.50 Monday-Friday between the hours of 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Regular lunch specials and a small patio are other perks. Take the Peachtree Place exit out of the Midtown MARTA station and turn left. Walk up to Peachtree Street and turn right. The restaurant is about a block down on the right in a highrise building.
North Avenue Station
Just down the street from Senor Patron is Escorpion, a Mexican restaurant and tequila bar that overlooks Peachtree Street. On Saturdays you'll regularly find international and Latin DJs playing music. Take the Fox Theatre exit out of the station, walking straight through the indoor mall to reach 3rd Street. Turn right on 3rd and walk up to Peachtree Street and turn left.
On the Border
Now you have a reason to use the new Buckhead bridge pedestrian entrance! On the Border is in the shopping center behind the Buckhead Station, near Old Navy and DSW. This chain restaurant has a large menu and a brunch with great drink deals. Take the north, bridge exit out of the station and walk over Ga. 400 toward the shopping center. Turn right on the first street past the parking lot.
El Rey Del Taco and Monterrey Mexican Restaurant
These two Mexican spots are nearly neighbors on Buford Highway near the Doraville MARTA station. Cross the street in front of the MARTA station and walk down Central Avenue and turn right on Buford Highway. Monterrey is the closer of the two, and serves fried ice cream.
