Fourth of July
Downtown Decatur provides a relaxed, family-friendly day of Fourth-of-July fun. The Pied Piper Parade lets kids to dress up, followed by live music and fireworks, all above the MARTA station.
Decatur Ghost Tour
Starting on the Decatur Square above the station, this tour offers a supernatural exploration of the area. Bring comfy walking shoes. A great date or family activity.
For live music featuring songwriters, Eddie's Attic has been the spot since 1992. Don't miss the cool rooptop bar. The venue is located on N. McDonough Street, above the station and near the gazebo.
Not your ordinary coffee shop, Java Monkey also features a wine bar and occassional live music. Located across from the Church Street exit of the MARTA station, you can't miss it.
Brick Store Pub
If you love pubs, a stop at the Brick Store Pub on the Decatur Square is a must. A massive beer and drink menu is available (plus food options) that you can enjoy at a cozy table with friends surrounded by exposed-brick walls.
Leon's Full Service
For a gastropub experience with a large patio and bocce ball court, head to Leon's Full Service, formerly a gas station. Crafty cocktails can be had at the bar. Take the Church Street exit out of the station and turn left.
Cakes and Ale
There isn't many places you can have your cake and ale, too. This highly-rated restaurant next to the Church Street station exit has a bakery and a restaurant.
For classy Italian and a glass of wine, head to No. 246. A hidden patio is out back that includes a bocce ball court. Take the Church Street exit out of the station and turn left on Church, then left on W. Ponce de Leon Avenue.
Twain's Billiards and Tap
Game on! You'll find just about every bar game imaginable at Twain's. Plus, you can listen to live music and drink their brewed-on-site beer. Take the Church Street exit out of the station and turn right.
Meat-lovers will like the grass-fed and organic meat options at Farm Burger. Local produce also has a place on the menu for an all-around tasty meal on the healthier side.
Agnes Scott College
An all-female college, Agnes Scott is about a 10-minute walk from the Decatur station. Regular speakers, special events and music performances are open to the public. The landscaped grounds and stately brick buildings provide nice scenery for a walk. Take the Church Street exit out of the station and turn right. A tunnel underneath the railroad tracks is about two blocks away, with the college on the other side.
Dekalb County Public Library
The local library offers more than just books. Choose from a speaker series, arts and crafts, movie nights and more. Take the Church Street exit out of the station and walk straight ahead and across the street to enter Sycamore Street. The library is on the right less than a block down.
