5) Mac Macguff

Juno's dad has a lot of reasons to be cranky. His 16-year-old daughter is pregnant, the father of her baby is a geeky teenager, and his youngest daughter isn't very bright. Despite all that, Mac represents the part of all great dads that keeps a level head and manages to find the humor in the situation. He also has some great, down-to-earth advice about love.

4) Daniel Hillard
(Mrs. Doubtfire)
Setting a new standard for dads everywhere, Daniel Hillard proved to the world that he was willing to go to embarrassing and uncomfortable lengths to be with his children. After a rather nasty divorce, Daniel is forced to settle for seeing less of his children than he's accustomed to, and he dresses as an old British nanny to be with them. The true lesson of the film is a lesson about letting go, accepting change, and the love between families. No matter what happens, everything is going to be alright, because family is all that matters.

3) Marlin

Marlin is an extraordinary character. After the tragic loss of his wife and his other children, his son Nemo is all he has left in the world, and he's dedicated to making sure he doesn't lose Nemo too. Neurotic and over-protective, Marlin is a never-ending source of frustration for adventurous Nemo, but when the worst happens and Nemo ends up in a fish tank thousands of miles away, Marlin puts aside his fears and faces unimaginable danger to be reunited with his son.

2) Guido Orefice
(Life is Beautiful)
Even in a time of dark tragedy and imminent danger, great dads try to shield their children as best they can. The Holocaust, one of the darkest times in history, is the backdrop for this heartbreaking movie about one man's need to keep his child's hope alive amidst the horrors of the concentration camps. To keep his son from being afraid, Guido Orefice turns the Holocaust into a game, even sacrificing his own life in the process. No matter how dark the night gets, the daylight always comes, and Guido protects his son from death, fear, and ultimately, the bitterness of resentment.

1) Chris Gardner
(The Pursuit of Happyness)
Maybe Will Smith's performance as Chris Gardner is so good because he was acting with his real-life son, but the love between them is tangible. Chris is a salesman who is struggling so much for money that he and his son have to live in homeless shelters and once, even in a public bathroom. With sole custody of his beloved son, Chris struggles to earn the money and the education he needs in order to give his child a better life, no matter how many sacrifices he has to make.
