You could land a job programming or repairing computers for a major company, or you could design websites. You could also start a home-business servicing and upgrading computers. There is a lot of money to be made for diligent computer geeks willing to market their services. A college degree may not be necessary if you can demonstrate high quality work.

Website Writer. Future jobs for writers are unlimited, especially internet based writing jobs. If you are skilled in the area of writing and understand search engine optimization, consider becoming a website content writer. You can work from the comfort of your home and set your own hours. You'll save money on work clothes and gas; you'll also save a lot of time by avoiding the daily commute. Best of all, you could work from virtually anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer with internet access. Many people are looking to work from home in the future.

Fitness Instructor. Whether you choose to teach aerobics, tai chi or jazzercise, there will be future jobs available for you. Americans are now looking for ways to improve their health. With chronic obesity and other weight related diseases at an all time high, people are looking to get fit in the future. The best thing about working as a fitness instructor is that you’ll be able to stay in shape.

Nurse. Nurses are in demand around the globe and will continue to be in the future. There are job opportunites for nurses to work in hospitals, nursing homes, retirement centers, doctor's offices, walk-in-clinics, and public schools. It is also possible to land a job as a private, in-home nurse. It takes as little as 12 months to become a licensed practical nurse. Attend a vocational school program and you'll save thousands of dollars on the cost of the training. Nursing is one of the best jobs for the future. It provides job security, a decent salary with over-time pay available, and flexible work schedules.

Teacher. Teaching is a challenging job, but it does provide opportunities for the future. The best thing about teaching for mid-life career changers is that it is an easy field to transition into. If you already have a bachelor's degree in any field, most school districts will grant you a teaching job through an alternative teacher certification program. Of course you will have to attend teacher workshops for training, but at least you will not need an additional college degree.
