make it especially addicting
If you love trivia games, there are a few nice choices for free trivia games on the iPhone. They might not have all of the bells and whistles as some of the pay apps, but they can certainly keep you entertained for hours on end and test your knowledge from movies and television to sports, history and the arts.
And after all, that's what a good trivia game is all about, isn't it?
Free trivia games for the iPhone
These are games that are absolutely free from the iPhone app store. They aren't watered down versions of paid games, rather, they are built to stand on their own. While there are a number of free trivia games available, these represent the best.
PCH Trivia. The Publisher's Clearing House Trivia game is a pretty straight forward game where you simply answer a series of questions based on a subject, but it has a wide variety of questions and topics and keeps track of an ongoing score, which is nice. Also, you'll occassionally get to spin the wheel to get some bonus points, which gives you an incentive to keep answering. Grab it.
WMITF. What Movie Is This From is a great free trivia game that you can download. Perfect for movie buffs, the game spills out movie quotes both common and rare and lets you take a stab at answering them. And this isn't a multiple choice game. You'll have to type in the answer. The fun part is the countdown to the online question, where you compete against iPhone users the world over to see who can get the quote right. Grab it.
Quiz Genius. This is a rather simple trivia game that gives you multiple choice answers and a countdown, so you have to choose your answer quickly. It has a nice variety of questions and can be a great time-waster if you just want to answer some trivia. Grab it.
Real or Fake. Another neat movie trivia game, this one doesn't quite have the staying power as WMITF, but consider that it is a free trivia game, it's well worth the price. How you play is simple: the game calls out the name of a movie and you indicate whether it is real or fake. Grab it.
Free trivia games - Lite versions
In addition to the free trivia games available on the app store, there are a number of lite versions that can be quite entertaining and not so watered down that you feel forced into purchasing the real version of the app. Of course, spending the money will unlock more of the game, and usually more questions, but each of these games listed have been chosen because they can be quite fun without ever spending a dime.
Who Wants To Be A Millionare Lite. "Let's play Millionaire." That's how the game starts, and it is a relatively faithful version of the popular TV trivia game. You answer question, starting with easier questions for lower amounts, and you can even call in to an expert and ask for support. Grab it.
Ben Stein It's Trivial Lite. If you like your trivia with a little snark, Ben Stein's trivia game might be the right choice for you. The game itself is rather simple. You answer questions and try to help the monkey climb up the vine. It's divided into multiple levels, with the questions getting harder as you progress. Grab it.
Trivia Challenge Lite. This trivia game gets straight to the good stuff by going right for the questions. Your challenge is to see how many you can get write before too many wrong answers smack you out of the game. It's rather no thrills, but the questions have some nice variety, and there's something addicting in finding out how many questions you can answer before failing out. Grab it.
Movie Challenge Lite. This is another one for movie buffs. Movie Challenge Lite is one of the more inventive trivia games out there as it has a bit more to do than just answering questions. You'll be plagued with deciding whether or not to use a free shuffle, or to go ahead and try to answer some trivia on animated films. Grab it or Read the Review of the Full Version
