Alaska is on the bucket list of just about every serious fisherman. Having the opportunity to fly fish in some of the nation’s most pristine waters, and fighting a prize-winning rainbow trout are the things that most fishermen would rank at the top of their list. The trick though is to find a quality lodge that has a reputation for satisfying their clients year after year.
As one of the top contributors to TripAdvisor, I also depend on them to find places I want to go. With 42 of 42 people giving No-See-Um Lodge an “Excellent” rating, I think it’s safe to say this is a place where you’re going to enjoy yourself.
Intentionally not the biggest lodge in Alaska, second-generation owner John Holman likes to keep his groups to twelve or less each week so that everyone can get the best personalized attention possible. Lodge accommodations consist of six bedrooms each with two beds and a private bath. Satellite TV and Internet access are available to keep you connected….and to let you send selfies with your prize catch each day.
When you aren’t fishing, you’ll probably be hanging out in the lodge, where gourmet fare is expertly prepared by the lodge’s chef. Fresh bakery goods are complimented by a selection of both red and white wines served daily. Special dietary needs are happily accommodated with advance notice.
But tell me about the fishing!
Novices, so-so fisherman, and experienced anglers will all enjoy the opportunities here at No-See-Um Lodge. That’s because on average, a guide goes out with every two fishermen to make sure they have the best experience possible.
So what can we catch? Well, if it’s big and it puts up a fight, it could be in these waters. Actually, you can expect to find all the following, depending on the time of year you arrive:
If those won’t satisfy your quest for fishing adventure, I don’t know what would. But, you can’t wait forever. With limited availability and with their reputation for top-notch experiences, their calendar can easily fill quickly with returning guests.
So what’s included?
Round trip from Anchorage is included along with fly-out fishing each day – weather permitting. Local fishing is always available no matter what the weather.
All flies and other terminal tackle are included. Rods and reels are available for loan if needed.
Lodging and gourmet meals are all included.
Not included – fishing license (available on line.)
