T-Rex in Downtown Disney makes it fun to eat out.

Orlando is a popular vacation destination for families. Along with all the theme park fun, dining out with the kids can actually be lots of fun, too, at some of the best family-friendly restaurants. These dining establishments not only offer great food, but make eating out part of the fun memories.

T-REX Café
The newest themed-dining in Downtown Disney, T-REX takes diners back in time to an interactive prehistoric environment. Life-size animatronic dinosaurs, woolly mammoths and aquariums stimulate the mind between bites of delicious Layers of the Earth Lasagna or the Gigantosaurus Burger. Every 20 minutes, witness a meteor shower complete with rumbling and fiery “explosions.” Families will be enchanted by the various creatures found among waterfalls, bubbling geysers and a kid-friendly Paleo Zone hands-on experience where you can dig for hidden dinosaur fossils. The Dino-Store offers educational toys and other Mesozoic merchandise, as well as a Build-A-Dino By Build-A-Bear Workshop where you the kids can assemble their very own plush pet dinosaur.

NBA City
Got a little sports fan in your family? Universal CityWalk ‘s NBA City features classic basketball arenas of the 1940s and 50s and serves American fare that will score points with anyone. Twice named Orlando's best themed restaurant by the Orlando Sentinel, NBA City offers some of the best sandwiches and pizzas in CityWalk with a fun atmosphere that kids love.

Rainforest Café
Rainforest Café is a feast for both the eyes and taste buds. This adventure-themed restaurant re-creates a tropical jungle rainforest teeming with wildlife to delight the entire family. With two locations, one at Disney's Animal Kingdom and the other in Downtown Disney, the lush rainforest comes to life through a combination of animated wildlife and special effects. And the food is always delicious.

Nascar Sports Grill
Racing fans will enjoy the NASCAR memorabilia (racing helments, photos, artwork, etc.) of this Universal CityWalk restaurant while the kids will love having their photo taken with the real NASCAR vehicle parked outside. Settle in to enjoy delicious offerings like Trackside Collision Chicken, the Talladega Cheesy Burger, Daytona Chiliburger, Pit Crew Pulled Pork Sandwich and more. Then head to the SpeedZone game room where you'll find rows of NASCAR racing simulators and video games. The restaurant also features the NASCAR Gear store where you can stock up on officially licensed merchandise from all the most popular drivers.

Unos Pizzaria and Grill
If you’re ready to get away from the theme parks for a bit, head over to Uno’s Pizzaria and Grill. In addition to a yummy menu for the adults, the kids can make their own pizza. Uno’s gives them an apron, thin crust pizza dough, sauce and toppings and they build their own pizza, send it back to the kitchen to be cooked, then get to devour their own creation. The kids love it. And, if you’re looking for an added incentive – Tuesday is Kid’s Eat Free Night. There are several locations in the Orlando area. It’s good fun and yummy food for everyone.

The Old Spanish Sugar Mill Grill & Griddle House
If you don’t mind taking a one hour drive to experience a fun family breakfast, you don’t want to miss The Old Spanish Sugar Mill Grill & Griddle House. Inside the DeLeon Springs State Park, this unique restaurant brings a whole new experience to a family breakfast out. Kids become culinary artists as they create their own pancakes with pitchers of homemade pancake batter and the personal griddles at each table,. Specialty toppings like bananas, peanut butter, pecans and apples add a tasty flourish to griddle works-of-art, making this breakfast a cherished memory for all. Other breakfast fare is also offered. If you bring your swimsuits on a warm day, the family can enjoy a dip in the DeLeon Springs pool afterwards or you can just enjoy the park at a leisurely pace.
