Red light chandeliers at Bordello Bar
Downtown LA is filled with bars of all kinds, but there are a few exceptional bars that stand out as great places to take a date for some drinks, entertainment and conversation. One such bar is the provocative Bordello bar.
Bordello’s motto is, “Sometimes… Love’s worth paying for,” paying homage to the locations notorious history as Downtown’s oldest bar and brothel. Though it’s been a long time since that kind of love has been obtained at this location, love can still be found in this uber sexy bar/restaurant. The lush décor screams red light district, from the Victorian drapes to the velvet sofas trimmed in gold, and the numerous red lights scattered throughout. Intricate chandeliers hang from the ceilings and photos of 1920’s flappers that dared to show some skin hang on the walls. Attractive bartenders are ready to serve you while dressed in corsets and fishnets. There is a small stage where burlesque dancers perform as well as jazz bands and cabaret shows. The whole feel of the venue is sexy and intimate, and thus is a great place to take a date. For more information, check out their myspace page, which includes a full calendar of shows and events.
The bar can be hard to find, as there isn’t any visible signage. The trick is to turn onto N Vignes street and look for the red door. It is located across the street from a Japanese temple. There will most likely be a group of people taking drags from their cigarettes right outside the door. Find a place to park on the street, and be prepared for an unforgettable evening.
