Best Buy Survey on the New Apple HDTV Leaked Over the Internet

Perhaps you’ve heard but in case you haven’t, a Best Buy survey for the new Apple HDTV leaked out over the internet recently and the news of the questionnaire has been spreading like wildfire. I’ve had a chance to review the first source of the leak and the following are my thoughts and answers from the four-question survey.

Before I answer the survey, let me offer you the details of this yet to be released hot commodity. Below is a description but if you want to see the entire survey, you can view it here.

Customer Voice

Please read the concept below carefully as it will appear only once. The next 4 questions will be based on this description.

*Use your iPad or iPhone as a remote control, and do everything from controlling your TV to purchasing new shows and swapping content between your Apple services and the iCloud service.

*Built-in convenience with built in iSight camera and microphone for Skype.

*In addition to iTunes, stream content from popular sites such as Netflix, You Tube and flickr.

The survey follows and four questions are as follows:

Based on the description you just read, which statement best describes how likely you would buy/or sign up for this product/service?

Which statement best describes how much you think you would like or dislike this product/service?

Which statement best describes how well this idea would solve a problem or fulfill a need for you?

How would you rate this idea in terms of being new and different from other products/services currently available?

My answers are as follows:

  1. Might or might not buy or sign up
  2. Like moderately
  3. Might or might not
  4. Very new and different

So why did I give a lukewarm response to all of the questions? Because I require a lot more detail into the capabilities of the Apple HDTV. Although I am excited to finally see and read what this new product can do, I won’t be spending $1500 just because it’s the next big thing. Oh sure, there will be people lining up for it but like most any product, I tend to stay on the sidelines until I get some feedback from consumers and analysts alike. Besides $1500 is a lot to pay for a 42” 1080p LED panel display given the incredibly low prices for a comparable sized TV.

So the last question we should all ponder is, when will the Apple HDTV be made available to the public? As soon as I hear of a date and if I know more details, I’ll relay it back to you. For now, my recommendation is to hold on purchasing the Apple TV, even if it’s just $99.
