The readers of Albuquerque the Magazine have spoken again and this time they're talking about one of America's favorites: hamburgers.
Leading the pack is a burger joint with 33 locations and it appears that their favorite is also my favorite burger - the Green Chile Cheese Lotaburger. I like it for the same reason the voters like it - the delicious taste of the locally grown green chile. It's hot enough that you know it's there, but not too hot to overpower the taste of the burger itself. Blake's Lotaburger is #1 in Albuquerque. I should also mention the great milkshakes - special flavors that appear from time to time.
Five Guys is next. Located at 6550 Paseo del Norte Blvd. the burgers must be good. It's a bit out of the way for much of Albuquerque so a lot of people must have gone out of their way to discover it - and that's a good sign. Fiveguys.com
Coming in at number 3 is Fuddruckers where a big burger here can be a full meal. With the condiment bars readily available you can pile on all the fixin's you need for a burger feast. The freshly ground beef and delicious buns make it a great choice for dinner. Fuddruckers.com.
Lumpy's Burgers was number 4 on the list. They're way over on the west side at 10131 Coors Blvd. N.W. and can be reached at 899-0122. See the website at lumpysburgers.com.
Get your fill of burgers at any of these 5 great choices and . . . Keep on Traveling!
If you're flying into Albuquerque you'll pass Fuddruckers driving down Yale from the airport. Blake's Lotaburger can be found almost anywhere in town - just watch for the sign. The other three you'll have to look for but the readers are telling you they're worth seeking.
