It wouldn't be the holidays without a soundtrack playing. We all associate the holidays with beautiful music and carols, with several fun tunes thrown in for good measure. So where can one go to hear this holiday music that is such a big part of the season? Check out these concert offerings in North Metro Atlanta for the best in holiday music!

Christmas with the Atlanta Synphony

In carrying on the rich musical tradition established 45 years ago by Robert Shaw, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will again present their annual holiday gift to the coummity with Christmas with the ASO. This annual holiday concert features the symphony, the symphony chorus, the Morehouse college glee club, and the Gwinnett Young Singers, singing and playing holiday favorites such as Away in a Manger, Selections from the Nutcracker Suite, and the Hallelujah Chorus. Audiences have four opportunities to hear this wonderful concert; December 8, 9, 10 at 8pm, with a matinee performance December 10 at 2pm. All performances will take place in Atlanta Symphony Hall in the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. Tickets are $29-$60, depending on seat location. Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus

The Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, the only all male choral ensemble in Atlanta will present their holiday show Bells in Boyland December 9-10 at the Cathedral of St.Phillip on Peachtree Street in Atlanta. The Chorus is made up of 100 men from all over the Atlanta Metro Area. Bells in Boyland will also feature handbells by The Atlanta Ringers, and the internationally recognized guest soloist Dwight Coleman. As per tradition, there will be an ice cream social following the Saturday matinee performance. Tickets are $15-$40 depending on performance and seating preference. Atlanta Philharmonic

The Atlanta Philharmonic will present their holiday concert featuring selections from Handel's Messiah December 3 and 4. Conducted by Mirna Orizovic-Ciric, the Atlanta Philharmonic is a volunteer orchestra comprised of skilled high school through professional players. The concert will be held at the North Decatur Presbyterian church on December 3, and at Mountain Park United Methodist Church on December 4. Both concerts begin at 7pm. Atlanta Sacred ChoraleĀ 

The Atlanta Sacred Chorale will present their annual holiday concert December 10 at 7pm. Conductor Eric Nelson invites you to join the ASC in their beautiful new space at Emory University's Emerson Concert Hall in the Schwartz Center to let the stress of the holiday season slip away as you relax to the sounds of beautiful music. The concert will feature classical guitarist Alejandro Cote, and the audience is invited to join Nelson, Cote, and the singers for a reception following the concert. Celtic Christmas

Back for it's 18th year at Emory University, Celtic Christmas brings a delightful mix of joy and spiritual depth through stunning Celtic music. The concert features Moya Brennan, the "Queen of Celtic Music" as well as showcases local talent. The concert is a blend of fiddle music, dance, song, and poetry in both the Celtic and Appalachian Christmas traditions. The concert will be held at Emory University's Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts on December 18 and 19 at 8pm with a 2:30 matinee on the 19th.
