The vote is in and Rainbow Ryders tops the Best of list for Hot Air Balloon Rides in Albuquerque. Located at 5601 Eagle Rock Ave. N.E., Rainbow Ryders have been around for 30 years. They fly thousands of eager customers every year and are always a part of the International Balloon Fiesta.
Next on the list is the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta itself. It's a great time and venue to fly. Taking off in the midst of hundreds of other balloons is a once-in-a-lifetime for most of the people who have his opportunity and it will be remembered and cherished for the rest of that lifetime. It's expensive and may take a while to pay off that credit card bill, but with every payment you can just close your eyes and remember the flight and that should take away some of the pain. Better yet, save up the cash first and pay as you go.
Also on the short list is World Balloon at 6390 Coors Blvd. N.W., phone 293-6800. When you get high in the sky and realize that you can see a mountain 70 miles away or skim across the rooftops and listen to the dogs bark below you'll know you're having a great time and will be looking forward to your next flight. They've been around for more than 40 years and can offer some great bargains for your flight experience - you might even want to become part of the crew, check out the website. You've seen the choices offered by the readers of Albuquerque The Magazine and in the next paragraph you'll find a little hint for another way to fly.
There are always other balloonists who will take you up during the Balloon Fiesta as well. You can probably volunteer to help an out-of-town ballonist and maybe score a free flight for your efforts. Enjoy Albuquerque and . . . Keep on Traveling!
