Baby's room is a special place, so you want to make sure it is a place he or she will want to play and sleep as they grow up. Here's some more ideas that make great baby shower gifts for baby's room... Check out Part 1: stuff for the walls HERE.
Holgate Toys Classic Step Stool Chair is the perfect "grow with me" gift. You can use it as a step stool, then with an easy rotation, it turns into a toddler chair. It can be personalized too. It's made with quality construction meant to last for generations. My youngest daughter has one of these and loves it. She can recognize her name and she enjoys pointing out to her sister that this chair is hers.
ChicBlvd.com's Baby Zabu is the ultimate playmat for baby's room or on the go. Not only is it hip looking, but it's so practical too. It can go inside a pack n play laid flat or with its corners tied up on the floor for a travel bed for your babe. The designs are bright and eye catching for little ones too. Its really soft to the touch yet firm enough to be safe. For storage or easy travel it rolls up. Baby Zabu's come in two sizes and regular or eco-friendly fabrics.
The Baby Mickey and Minnie picture Frame Box from DisneyStore.com is a lovely keepsake photo frame to mark baby's milestones. It has four photo slots to mark baby's first day, first year, etc. It comes in a gender neutral color so it's perfect for a gift for someone who's not found out girl or boy before the big day.
A nice feature in a baby's room is an area to read books in together. A simple way to do that is to have a few floor pillows and a basket or storage bin of books. My Pillow Pets are a good choice for those pillows. They come in lots of cute bug and animal designs and a really soft. When kids get older they can use them on their beds too.
To store the books in (or hats or shoes or toys or anything really) check out Kangaroom's Cupcake Storage. These cute storage units are shaped like cupcakes. You can fill the bottom cupcake section as well as the top frosting section. They're really handy and a cute way to hide all those extra things. Plus kids think they're fun to use. Afterall, who doesn't enjoy cupcakes!
For safety, you'll want electrical sockets covered. A cool way to do this is with Socket-Lockits. These are nearly impossible for little fingers to get off, which means they aren't a potential chocking hazard like some other socket covers. And they can be customized to match almost any fabric or paint color so they blend into the wall or you can have photos or other art designs put on them.
One crib safety item to consider getting is a crib tent. These keep pets from jumping in or objects being put into the crib by another child. And when baby gets older, they stop little climbers that try to get out. I like and use the Cozy Crib Tent II. It has a breathable mesh top and mesh surrounds. All parts are attached in multiple locations. I put this together by myself but could have used another pair of hand when installing the tent rods. Otherwise it was easy to do.
