Best Baby Shower Gifts: Things for baby's room (Part 1)

Baby's room is a special place. While you may not even use it for sleeping until baby is a month or so old, it's the place baby will eventually wake up every day and go to sleep every night. You want it to be a fun and a safe place for sleeping and playing. In short, a place your little one wants to be. Here's a few ideas of things to do just that focusing on the walls. For more ideas for baby's room, check out part 2!

The Paper Menu's Personalized Wall Art from FineStationery.com is super cute and adds just the right amount of color to the walls. They have a tractor design for boys and a butterfly design for girls. Both have baby's name on the artwork for a personalized touch. Kids love to see their name on things, so as they grow older they'll still treasure this piece of art.

Morado Designs makes custom embroidered wall hangings and other items perfect for the baby’s room. I have the Little Birdie Birth Announcement hanging on the wall in my daughter’s room. It’s nicely crafted and offers a nice personal touch. And it's made in the USA by a mom.

WhirleyGirl makes custom handpainted keepsakes for babies in both girly and all boy designs. They're great for decorating baby's room. And they're made in the USA by a very artistic mom.

Add some learning to your walls with eeBoo's Counting or Alphabet Wall Art. These are beautiful 8x10 wall placards that can be hung or framed and placed anywhere you want. We have the counting animals. We hung ours with double sided tape in a triangle design on one wall and use them to practice counting. They are very classy looking! They'd also make a nice border around a baby's room.

The Deluxe Baby Keepsake Kit from Red Envelope is a great way to remember baby's first days. It comes with no-mess, no-stick plaster kit that you easily press baby's little hands and feet into to make a keepsake mold of those tiny little features. You put those in the frame that also has an opening for baby's first photo and is matted in either blue or pink. Added bonus: Red Envelope has the most impressive gift wrapped delivery. Presents arrive packaged nicely in a giant red box with a big cream colored bow. Making it fun to open and a great way to send your thoughts and wishes for baby when you can't be there in person!

MIA canvas makes handpainted magnetic art work for children's walls. The idea is that art work should be imaginative and interactive (when baby's old enough of course). For the first years it's a cute decoration and you can post up notes telling baby how he is treasured. Then when he gets older, you can hang the artwork he creates on his walls. That's something kids love seeing. My girls think this is really neato. MIA Canvas also takes special custom orders to match any theme you've come up with for your baby's room.

Stuck on You's Wall Art is personalized with your child's name. It comes in all kinds of cool designs from cars to flowers, and my daughters' personal favorite - fairies. We put these up easily and in no time. Just peel and stick. You can also unpeel and restick if you want to move them around.

Along this same line are the kids' designs by Fathead. They're not personalized but are gigantic and fun and come in all kids of designs from TinkerBell to your favorite sports teams, as you've no doubt seen on TV. We have the TinkerBell on the door to my girls' room, along with their names. I just cut out the letters from the excess sticky stuff that TinkerBell came mounted on.
